A side hustle is a great way to make some extra money in your spare time. Having a little extra money can go a long way in helping you reach your financial goals. A little money from here and there can quickly add up, and before you know it, you’ve paid off another credit card, or increased your savings account. But finding a way to get extra cash can often be time consuming and frustrating. Here are some side hustles you can start today to get extra money while working from home.
Become A Proofreader
Do you love to read? Are you pretty good when it comes to grammar? There is actually a very high demand for proofreaders worldwide. As a proofreader you take some content that someone has written and check it for correct grammar and punctuation. Some proofreaders, such as Caitlin Pyle, are even able to make over $40,000 working for themselves, on their own schedule, from the comfort of their home.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, Caitlin developed a course called ProofreadAnywhere.com where she teaches you the basics of proofreading and shows you how to turn this knowledge into a profitable business. She also tells you how to find clients, structure your workdays and run a successful proofreading business.
Use Blogging As A Side Hustle
Since you’re reading this, it seems pretty obvious I decided to start a blog as my side hustle. I have found blogging to be both fun and very rewarding. I enjoy helping others improve their finances and their life and all I need to work on my blog is my computer and an Internet connection. This allows me to work from almost anywhere.
With a little effort, ANYONE can make money with a blog. There are so many avenues to explore such as: affiliate marketing, advertisements, product sales, and courses to help people learn a new skill.
You can start a blog by talking about almost anything. What are you passionate about? There are blogs about traveling, cooking, being a mom or dad, making crafts, saving and investing money, cars, planes, religion; the list goes on and on.
If creating a blog sounds like something you would like to do, I highly recommend starting blog with Bluehost. You can check out my article Creating Your Own WordPress Blog on Bluehost for a detailed step-by-step tutorial that will get your blog up in running in 15 minutes or less.
Participate In Online Surveys
Did you know you can make money by taking online surveys? It’s true. There are survey companies that want to pay you for your opinions by answering online surveys and testing their products. Best of all, they are FREE to join. Some of my favorite survey companies are PineCone Research, Harris Poll Online, MySurvey, Inbox Dollars, and American Consumer Opinion.
The companies will send you surveys based upon your answers to screening questions. The screening questions help the companies determine which surveys would be a good fit for you. With this in mind, you may not be selected for one of their surveys everyday. That’s why it’s a good idea to sign up for several survey companies so you have a greater opportunity to make money.
Sell Items Online
Do you have a lot of clutter or items you want to get rid of? Well before you throw them out you may want to try and sell them online. There are numerous online shops that will allow you list items for sale. For example, you can create an eBay account and let people place bids for them, or settle on a “buy now” price.
Other sites like Facebook marketplace and Craigslist are also popular ways to sell previously used items. However, if you do decide to use one of these platforms, please use caution and always make sure that you meet potential buyers in public places and take someone with you for safety.

Sell Products On Amazon
While selling products on Amazon technically falls into the selling items online category, I figured it deserved its own section because many people have taken selling items on Amazon to the next level and actually created a successful business that allowed them to quit their 8 to 5 job. My friend, Seth Kniep, did just that.
Seth previously worked for Apple but realized he no longer desired to trade his time for money and he wanted to become his own boss. To raise money for his new business venture he took a single dime and transformed it into $100,000. Since then, he has become a successful 7-figure Amazon seller and is now teaching others how to achieve the same dream.
Seth created a group called Just One Dime where he offers an instructional course, personal coaching, and advanced resources to not only help you find highly profitable products to sell, but he also teaches you how to sell them. He covers everything from finding and sourcing products, shipping, product photos, and creating an attractive sales listing.
Sell Kindle eBooks On Amazon
E-books are becoming more and popular. Many people are now reading books on their phone, tablets, or Kindle devices. So, have you ever thought about selling Kindle books on Amazon? This is one avenue that does not require a lot of start-up money and the process is fairly easy.
Stefan Pylarinos offers a thorough, comprehensive course called K Money Mastery, that shows you exactly how to get started creating your own e-books to sell on Amazon. He covers topics ranging from content creation, book cover design, sales listing, and promotions. He also goes into greater detail about scaling your business by showing you how to find and train inexpensive virtual assistants to decrease your own personal workload. Even if you are not the best writer, Stefan will teach you how to find others that can write your book for a small fee.
But if you have the passion and desire to write an ebook, Stefan can also show you how to write your own ebook in less than 24 hours.
Become A Virtual Assistant
Virtual assistants may perform tasks such as scheduling appointments, editing and formatting blog posts, managing social media accounts, email management, website design, ebook cover creation, and much more. Simply put, you get paid to perform tasks that need to be completed for someone else’s business, but that doesn’t need to be specifically performed by the business owner. These tasks can be completed with the use of a computer so they can be accomplished from virtually anywhere with an internet connection.
No matter what your talents and skills may be, there is a side hustle out there that will help you make extra money to get our of debt and give your savings account a boost.
